From the manufacturer
Zhejiang Province
Zhejiang Province
World famous Gunpowder green tea from China. It derives its name from the Chinese word ‘Zhucha’, meaning Pearl Tea, and from the tightly rolled shape of the leaves.
Although there are several grades available in Pearl tea, the most famous are ‘Pinhead Gunpowder’ and ‘Temple of Heaven Gunpowder’. In both cases, three factors determine the high quality:
- Body: Should be small, tightly rolled leaves.
- Regularity: The size of the pearls should be consistent.
- Uniform dark color.
The Pearl is from the small town of Pinshui in Zhejiang province, China. Zhejiang is the world’s largest producer of green tea with a rich tea culture. Pearl tea is made in early spring. In Morocco and Russia, it is blended with fresh mint and sugar and often made iced. We offer this blend as Moroccan Mint.
A Premium Green Tea
Our Pearl Green Tea is a high quality and delicious green tea. Completely rolled by hand, multiples leaves are painstakingly weaved together. This improves flavor and aroma, allowing the volatile nutrients that make tea so delicious stay around a little longer.

The packaging is 10/10! I was surprised how nice the packaging was. It comes in a tin with a frost finish. When you pull off the lid there's another sealing lid on the inside which surprised me for the price. It has a knob you pull up on to break the air tight seal. I ordered a couple of these and it differs how tight the seal is, but all seemed to be air tight. I'll definitely be saving these tins when the tea is gone.
The flavor of tea is not the best, I just have to say that. I like strong tea so I tend to brew longer than usual. It took a long time to brew to my (usual) liking. My method is putting the tea in empty tea bags and brew by the cup. With green tea you have to be careful how long you let it steep, because it can turn pretty bitter. But I found no matter how short the steep, it was bitter. I don't mind that, I like it but this was a lot of bitter. Most people won't like it.
It's not undrinkable. It just depends on your taste. It's just not the best green tea I've ever had. But I will continue to drink this.
It has stems I just pluck them out when I find them. There's only a few.
I personally like this tea because of the price and packaging. It's not in a bulk size but not little. I think the price is fair for what you get. I might try to buy from a different seller next time if the price is good. If not I'll stick with this.
I love the taste of this green tea and have sought out many more varieties from this company.

That's would be acceptable if the tea was great, but the tin that did arrive was past it's best before date by a full 8 months!
This can't even be returned, so my advice is not to buy...
